Is to provide the full range of kinds of assistance that voluntary organisations in Stroud need in order to meet their objectives. We want to be able to support not only the existing members of the network, but the development of an effective voluntary sector in Stroud more broadly. We have identified through our own experience and networks that there is a need for supporting the local VCSE sector in Stroud with policy, governance, capacity building, fundraising, & supporting their staff and volunteers holistically, as well through possible funding & sourcing affordable and tailored HR and legal support, and managing the wellbeing of their volunteer teams as they facilitate this important work. Identifying experience-led (eg police & drug support agencies) as well certified training for volunteers, liaising & relationship building with key local partners to support charitable and community aims, such local councils, referral agencies, the NHS ICB, Social Prescribers, Councillors, & ensuring local community organisation's voices are really heard, and feed into conversations around commissioning and funding.
We recognise the value of, and are keen to assist as fully as we can with, the vital work carried out by so many smaller grass-roots organisations to support those living in our community who often have the least agency, dealing with poverty, mental & physical health issues, social isolation, local housing shortages, and ongoing cost of living rises, and we aim to provide a support model to the VCSE organisations in Stroud including around core basics like sustainable locally sourced food provision, digital inclusion, advocacy for equitable access & participation for all organisations in local public spending decision making & resourcing, and supporting the provision of quality pastoral care in the community, all of which meet our charitable aims and objectives.
This above all supports our stated Charitable Objects: The promotion of the voluntary sector in Stroud for the benefit of the public by providing management, governance and other support to small charities and voluntary organisations, including liaising between groups on relevant issues, providing training on subjects relevant to the efficiency of the sector, identifying needs in the voluntary sector and establishing projects or policies to address them. (The voluntary sector means charities and voluntary organisations)
